Ashburton H3 - Dolphin Bovey Tracey - Slimpy Memorial Hash
Tuesday, October 15th 7:30pm
Apologies for the long message. Not sure how else to spread the word, In memory of our very good friend Tristan Horswell, the Ashburton hash house harriers group are laying a trail.
The ‘Sir Limpalot Memorial Hash’ will be run from the Dolphin Hotel, Bovey Tracey 7:30pm on Tuesday 15th October. Tristan was an enthusiastic hasher and brought his element of fun and silliness on a regular basis. Ashburton Hash was Tristan’s first hashing group of which he was a regular attender until he moved to Bristol. Even when living away he attended 3 or 4 Ashburton runs a year, occasionally laying the trails too. Tris ‘Sir Limpalot’, fondly known as ‘Slimpy’ was friends to many of us hashers and we miss him dearly. For those unfamiliar with hashing, it involves following a trail. Most run, some walk, all enjoy with a mix of paths, mud, hills and the all important beer stops and ‘on down’ at the pub. The trail will accommodate walkers, slow runners, wannabe fast runners and fast runners, but will be laid such that the group is never totally spilt up. Hashing is non competitive running and also known as ‘drinkers with a running problem’. All hash groups are different. The Ashburton group has plenty of fun but always maintains a family friendly atmosphere.
As it’s October, it’s dark so you would need to bring a torch, and it’s damp under foot so expect to need to change shoes/socks before going into the pub at the end. Most hashers change clothes for the pub. We will be collecting run fees / donations to contribute to the Anthony Nolan Trust, who Tristan was an active donor for. We will have some photos of Tristan at the pub for the on down, and we can all share memories of a wonderful young man, and raise a glass.
I hope you can make it. It will mean a lot to all of us.
All the best, and on on,
